As part of activities marking International Women’s Day, Sky Bank Sierra Leone has donated essential items to mothers and newborn babies at Oladuring Children’s Hospital.
The donation, which included diapers, baby wipes, sanitary pads, buckets and other baby care items, forms part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at supporting vulnerable groups, particularly women and children.
Presenting the items on behalf of the bank, Head, Corporate Communication, Fatmata Suma said the institution was pleased to celebrate the occasion by supporting mothers and their newborn babies.
She explained that the initiative reflects the bank’s commitment to giving back to society and promoting inclusion.
“International Women’s Day is an important moment for us to recognize the role women play in our communities. As a bank, we believe in supporting women and children, and this donation is our way of celebrating with the mothers and their newborn babies,” she said.
Also speaking at the presentation, Head of Corporate Banking at Sky Bank, Sia Betty Sesay, noted that the gesture was part of the bank’s ongoing effort to contribute to community development.
According to her, the bank selected the hospital because it provides care to a large number of women and newborn babies.
“As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility, we wanted to reach out to mothers and their children during this special period. Giving back to society is something we strongly believe in as an institution,” Sesay stated.
She added that Sky Bank remains committed to undertaking similar initiatives aimed at supporting communities across Sierra Leone.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the hospital, Senior Matron Betsy J.D.S. Deen expressed appreciation to the bank for the support.
She described the donation as timely and beneficial to mothers and newborn babies receiving care at the facility.
“We are grateful to Sky Bank for remembering the mothers and babies here during the celebration of International Women’s Day. This support will go a long way in helping the women and their children,” she said.
The donated items were later distributed to mothers at the hospital, who expressed gratitude for the gesture.
Sky Bank has continued to support communities through various social interventions, particularly in areas related to health, education and women’s empowerment.
