Freetown, Sierra Leone – March 20, 2026

Dr. Ibrahim Bangura, the leading contender for the All People’s Congress (APC) 2028 presidential ticket, has extended a humanitarian lifeline to Sierra Leoneans trapped in Kuwait amid the ongoing conflict.

Dr. Bangura donated US$2,000 for immediate relief, channeling the funds through Alusine Kargbo, the APC Coordinator in Kuwait, to provide food, shelter, and urgent assistance to Sierra Leoneans facing dire conditions.

The conflict has left Sierra Leonean immigrants in Kuwait traumatized, with many losing jobs, shelter, and access to basic necessities. Families remain separated, and uncertainty looms over their future.
Mariatu Sesay, a domestic worker, shared her ordeal:
_“We are living in fear every day. Some of us have lost our jobs, others cannot return home, and we feel abandoned. This support gives us hope that we are not forgotten.”

Mohamed Kamara, another immigrant, echoed the sentiment: “The conflict has made life unbearable. We are grateful for Dr. Bangura’s assistance. It shows that someone cares about our struggles.”

In a statement accompanying the donation, Dr. Bangura offered words of consolation and a bold assurance: “My heart goes out to every Sierra Leonean enduring hardship in Kuwait. You are not forgotten. This support is a small step to ease your suffering, but my commitment is far greater. I assure you that when I become President of Sierra Leone, no Sierra Leonean will ever feel the need to seek greener pastures abroad. Together, we will build a nation where opportunity, dignity, and prosperity are found at home.”

The gesture has been hailed as both compassionate and politically symbolic. Analysts note that Dr. Bangura’s intervention underscores his campaign’s emphasis on self-reliance, accountability, and inclusive development.

Alusine Kargbo, the APC Coordinator in Kuwait, praised the initiative: “This donation is timely and impactful. It will help our brothers and sisters here who are struggling to survive. More importantly, it reminds us that Sierra Leone’s leadership is thinking about us, even in these difficult times.”

As the APC gears up for its 2026 National Delegates Conference (NDC), Dr. Ibrahim Bangura’s humanitarian outreach is being seen as a blend of empathy and foresight.

For Sierra Leoneans stranded in Kuwait, the relief support offers immediate respite, while his words of assurance provide long-term hope for a future where migration is no longer a necessity but a choice.
