The Leading All People’s Congress – APC flagbearer aspirant, Dr Ibrahim Bangura, has continued his tour of the south eastern region with engagements in Kailahun, Pujehun and Kenema districts, where he emphasized peace, unity and discipline within the party.
During his visit, Dr. Bangura congratulated winners of the recent ward elections in Pujehun, urging them to be magnanimous in victory and to work toward strengthening party cohesion. He reminded party members that internal contests should not divide them but rather reinforce their collective commitment to the growth of the APC.
He used the opportunity to reiterate his consistent message of peace and unity, calling on supporters to avoid electoral malpractice and uphold the integrity of the party’s processes. According to him, discipline remains a key pillar for the APC as it prepares for future internal contests and the 2028 general elections.
Dr. Bangura expressed strong confidence in his movement, stating that it has the potential to produce both the next APC flagbearer and the next President of Sierra Leone. Addressing supporters in Kenema, he invited them to be part of what he described as a history making journey, one that seeks to reposition the party for national leadership.
In Pujehun, the aspirant adopted a reflective tone, highlighting his long standing ties to the APC. He described himself as a loyal son of the party, noting that his roots are deeply embedded in its history. He referenced his father, Mr M. L. Bangura, whom he described as a founding and respected figure in the party’s youth league, adding that his political journey is inspired by a legacy of service and dedication.
Dr. Bangura also commended the local leadership in Pujehun for their continued loyalty and commitment to the party. He made special mention of District Chairman Mohamed Amadu Sesay, widely known as Dr Woo, praising his role in sustaining party structures and mobilizing support at the grassroots level.
He explained that his visit to Pujehun was deliberate, aimed at recognizing the district’s contribution to the APC over the years. He acknowledged the sacrifices of party supporters in the area and assured them that their efforts remain valued in the broader vision of the party.
Calling for tolerance and inclusivity, Dr. Bangura urged residents and party members in Pujehun to extend the same level of hospitality to other aspirants. He stressed that a healthy contest should be based on mutual respect, adding that unity will be critical in ensuring the party emerges stronger after the flagbearer race.
The visit formed part of a series of back to back engagements across the south eastern region, as Dr. Bangura intensifies his grassroots outreach. Political observers note that his approach positions him as a unifying figure within the APC, at a time when internal competition is increasing.
With his continued emphasis on unity, discipline and inclusive leadership, Dr. Bangura is steadily consolidating support while projecting himself as a leading contender determined to reshape the APC and contribute to Sierra Leone’s political future.
