On April 29, Ambassador Zhao Yong and President Bio jointly attended the commissioning of the 30MTPA Magnetite Processing Plant Phase Ⅱ at the Tonkolili Iron Ore Project of Leone Rock Metal Group, a Chinese-funded enterprise in Sierra Leone, and the 5th CDA payment ceremony. Several cabinet ministers, including the Chief Minister, the Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources, the Minister of Employment, Labour and Social Security, the Speaker and Members of Parliament, and paramount chiefs also presented.
Ambassador Zhao Yong congratulated Leone Rock Metal Group on project progress and commended its active fulfillment of social responsibilities in promoting local livelihoods and social development, and expressed hope for further deepening economic and trade cooperation between China and Sierra Leone, so as to better benefit the peoples of both countries.
President Bio spoke highly of Leone Rock Metal Group’s contribution to Sierra Leone’s economic and social development, and thanked the company for its continued payment of the Community Development Fund over the years, which has helped improve local livelihoods.
