APC 2028 Hopeful Holds Solidarity Meeting with Diaspora Branch
BY Nelson Adebayo Johnson.
Dr. Ibrahim Bangura, the prospective APC national leader and 2028 presidential candidate, arrived in Conakry on Wednesday for a condolence visit, where he also held a consultative meeting with members of the APC Guinea Branch.
Dr. Bangura was accompanied by two senior party officials: Comrade Mamoud Kargbo (BTK), Deputy Chairman of the North-West Region, and Lawyer Emmanuel Karrow-Kamara, Legal Adviser for the North-East Region.
The delegation’s primary purpose was to sympathize with a close friend following the recent passing of his mother. However, the visit quickly became an opportunity for grassroots engagement with party members in the diaspora.
During the meeting, Dr. Bangura and the Guinea Branch members discussed party unity, the role of the diaspora in national politics, and the need for sustained communication between the APC leadership and its overseas structures.
Call for Broader Engagement
Members at the meeting emphasized that Dr. Bangura’s visit should be followed by a more extensive engagement involving not only the party executive in Guinea but the entire APC membership. They noted that such interactions would strengthen cohesion and mobilization ahead of the 2028 elections.
“Dr. Bangura’s presence here shows that the party has not forgotten its members abroad,” one attendee said. “We want this to be the beginning of regular consultations.”
Dr. Bangura thanked the branch for their warm reception and reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive leadership that reaches all APC members, both at home and abroad. He indicated openness to returning for a larger gathering with the full membership.
The meeting ended with calls for solidarity and a renewed focus on rebuilding the party’s strength ahead of the next electoral cycle.
