By FUDIA P Conteh.

This is my first time writing about politics – and I do so with intention, not impulse.

For years, many of us as young people – whether in Sierra Leone or across the diaspora, particularly here in London – have remained observers. We have analysed, debated, and criticised from a distance. But we have not fully stepped into the arena. Not because we lack intelligence or concern, but because we have not always seen leadership that truly reflects our aspirations.

That moment has now changed.

I write today because I am convinced that the All People’s Congress, under the emerging leadership of Dr. Ibrahim Bangura, presents a serious, structured, and forward-looking path for Sierra Leone – one that young people can align with, believe in, and actively build.

This is not about sentiment. It is about substance.

At the centre of this conviction is a clear and disciplined vision: Heal, Unite, and Build.

Heal – because our generation has inherited a country burdened by division. Political hostility, regional mistrust, and unnecessary fragmentation have limited opportunities and weakened national cohesion. Young people are not interested in recycling these divisions. We want a Sierra Leone where merit, competence, and contribution define success. Healing is therefore not optional – it is foundational.

Unite – because no generation can succeed in isolation. The power of young people lies in collective alignment. Dr. Ibrahim Bangura represents a leadership approach that cuts across traditional divides. He speaks to the diaspora and to those at home. He engages both grassroots voices and emerging professionals. This is the kind of unity that transforms movements into outcomes.

Build – because vision without execution is meaningless. What distinguishes this moment is the emphasis on delivery. Young people are not asking for promises; we are demanding systems – jobs, innovation, education, and real economic participation.

A politics that does not build is a politics that fails.

For those of us in the diaspora, especially in the United Kingdom, this is a moment of responsibility. We have gained exposure, skills, and networks. The question is whether we will use them to shape the future of Sierra Leone or remain comfortable commentators.

For young people at home, this is a moment of ownership.

The future will not be handed over – it must be claimed through alignment with leadership that is disciplined, credible, and capable of delivery.

What makes this moment different is clarity . There is a sense of direction that has been absent for too long.

Dr. Ibrahim Bangura represents a break from politics as usual – where noise replaces strategy and rhetoric replaces results. He represents structure, purpose, and a seriousness that resonates with a generation that is ready to move forward.

This is why I write.

This is why I step forward.

And this is my call to young people – across Sierra Leone, across the diaspora, and here in London:

Move from silence to power. Engage. Organise. Align. Lead.

Because the future of Sierra Leone will not be shaped by those who watch – but by those who act.

Sierra Leone, we Move.
