Orange Sierra Leone-OSL on Thursday 29 October 2021 gave its Second Quarter Media Update to journalists during a briefing secession hosted at the company’s headquarters on Regent Road, Hill Station, Freetown.Making a PowerPoint presentation on OSL’s Corporate Social Responsibility milestones, the Head of Public Relations at Orange (SL), Madam Annie Wonnie Katta, informed that her company is at advanced stage in meeting the desired goals of its CRS.

She said Orange (SL) during the period under review offered ifta to Muslims in the month of Ramadan in Freetown, made key donations to the Kenema Polytechnic, provided communication and internet services to the Sierra Leone Police, and Women’s In the Media Sierra Leone.

Madam Katta said Orange (SL) made very strategic donations to the environmental sector to help in the mitigation on probable dangers associated with Climate Change among other environmental problems faced by the country.

She said two winners recently went home with huge amount of money from the Orange Social Ventures, and further stated that Orange Foundation had been helping women and children with needy support.

She added that during the Covid-19 pandemic Orange (SL) also donated assorted foodstuffs and clothes to vulnerable groups including the Disability Rights Movement and the Milton Margai School for the Blind.

On Orange (SL)’s interventions to save the challenging health status of women, Madam Katta reiterated that the company, during the phase under review, targeted Kroo Bay with a maternal mortality facility that now offers free health support to women and children.

She disclosed that Orange (SL) made a donation of a 50kva generator plant to Njala University, adding that it also gave Information Communication and Technology equipment to the university. Among other support she said OSL provided digital opportunity centers that offer digital training and experience.

She said the company also donated ICT equipment and furniture to the national Covid-19 responses unit, during the pandemic, adding that Orange (SL) also offered food items and clothes to victims of the Susan’s Bay fire victims shortly after the disaster.

On the continuing Breast Cancer, she said OSL has made meaningful contributions in saving the lives of victims, adding that her company also supported the Spelling Bee Competition.

Mamadou Billy for Orange (SL) Commercial Department disclosed that Orange (SL) had unarguably grown as a company, pointing out that Orange (SL) with a nationwide coverage and beyond had taken the lead in the country.

He said Orange (SL) products and services can now be accessed anywhere in the country, continuing that the network always reaches out to its customers and subscribers with affordable, reliable and very efficient services in major towns and communities across the country.

Billy further revealed plans by Orange (SL) to open franchise in Moyamba, Lungi, Kambia and other places in Sierra Leone to enable customers access the company’s products and services at anytime anywhere.

Speaking from Orange (SL) Marketing Department, Mohamed Kallon described Orange has a global brand with well over two hundred and fifty-four million (254m) customers.

He said Orange is in network operations in so many countries in Europe, Africa and other parts of the world.

Kallon said Orange continues to make remarkable footprints across the world, with a business philosophy to ensure that meaningful progress is made for Orange customers, the general wellbeing of the people, the society and the planet as a whole.

He said Orange’s purpose in Sierra Leone is to provide customers with what matters to them most, by way of adequately offering subscribers with the essential ingredients to communicate effectively.

Kallon added that Orange’s purpose is focused on improving the daily lives of the people through reliable, wonderful, efficient and impactful digital experience through Orange’s products and services.

The Marketing Department representative announced that Orange (SL) has launched the Big Sister Women’s Empowerment Show – a live television show.

He revealed that the company is also expected to unveil an Orange (SL) Youth Tournament, also known as the Orange Children’s Tournament, targeting teams with players below fourteen years in the following week, the winner of which will fly to Cameroon to witness Leone Stars’ participation in the Nations Cup.

Kallon explained that the tournament is being staged to provide platform for kids who are expected to take part in an effective fourteen-day football competition at S.S. Camp. He informed that at the current trade fair at the Siaka Stevens Stadium, Orange (SL) is one of the attraction spots, where customer care, Orange Money among others are brought to subscribers.

On behalf of New Businesses, Sulaiman Conteh said they are into so many things precisely Orange Energy. He said Orange Solar Energy with a slogan ‘Light don Cam’, which according to him started in 2020 in Koinadugu, is now everywhere in Sierra Leone.

He explained that Orange Solar Energy offers two types of products to customers: basic kit which covers a solar battery, a solar panel, a torch and a radio. Conteh said that the basic kit and the premium kit goes along with a 24-inch solar TV, with an inbuilt decoder that has over five hundred television channels, including SLBC and France 24.

He encouraged customers who want the premier kit to make an upfront payment of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Leones – Le 250,000,00 plus an initial deposit of Fifty Thousand Leones (Le50,000) monthly subscription or Thirteen Thousand Leones as weekly subscription.

Conteh said that after thirty months of such installments, the product shall offer regular power supply to a given customer without complaint. For the premium he said a customer shall deposit Five Hundred Thousand Leones and One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Leones, noting that Orange Solar Energy also makes provision for those who want to buy cash. He said at cash premium cost Five Million Leones with free installations.

Foday Bangura of B2B spoke of the Orange (SL) 4G air box and the categories of data bundles attached to it at an affordable cost of Two Hundred Thousand Leones (Le 200,000), adding that a data that used to cost Five Hundred Thousand Leones, now cost Four Hundred Thousand Leones at one hundred gigabytes which last for a month. He said that the higher speed a customer subscribes, the more data he/she gets.

Similar updates were made on Orange Money, Orange Foundation as well as the capacity of Orange (SL) network coverage countrywide. The Second Quarter Media Update was climaxed with questions and answers.
