The Africa Muslim Agency today Tuesday 8 August presented the sum of sixty-thousand eight hundred United States Dollars ($60, 800.00) to President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma at State House in Freetown. The said amount, according to the Country Director of Africa Muslim Agency Kemamine Ahmed, was a donation meant for Sierra Leone pilgrims that are insolvent.
Meanwhile, Mr Ahmed also requested for executive assistance for office space for his Agency in the Freetown municipality with specific areas earmarked.
President Koroma on behalf of government and the people of Sierra Leone thanked the Africa Muslim Agency for the support for Muslim brothers and sisters taking part in this year’s Hajj pilgrimage. As usual, he passed on the cash donation to the Hajj Committee for disbursement to the appropriate individuals who haven’t got the ability to pay for themselves.
In another development, President Koroma received in audience the new Secretary General of the Mano River Union (MRU) Ambassador Medina A. Wesseh Esq. Ambassador Wesseh, according to Minister of Finance and Economic Development Mr. Momodu Kargbo, was an Executive Assistant to President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf prior to her appointment as the new Secretary General of MRU.
Congratulating Madam Wesseh on her new appointment, President Koroma described the timing of the appointee as crucial as the Union has not only increased its membership with Ivory Coast but also charged with the implementation of new decisions sanctioned by Head of States of the MRU. He therefore urged Madam Wesseh to hit the ground running and assured of his support when necessary.
Ambassador Medina A. Wesseh thanked President Koroma and the people of Sierra Leone for the warm reception, and promised to work assiduously hard to transform the MRU secretariat
