Qcell Sierra Leone has last Friday 16th December 2022, launched the Qpower to enable customers recharge their pre-paid electricity meters directly from their airtime by just a short code 363, at the company’s headquarters on Wilkinson Road Freetown.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chief Executive Officer CEO of QcellSL Karthik Yayamani welcomed all at the launching of the Qpower light don kam promotion.
He said promotions is unique in offering innovative service by Qcell-SL Salone Pride.
He said over the years the company has provided simple communication to its customers as lower and cheaper voice call to Qcell to Qcell and to other networks.
“We have continued to expand our services to fourteen districts in the country within the shortest time, adding that they started to roll out 2G, 3G, and 4G services across the country’’.
Yayamani said Qcell-SL has endeavoured to offer an affordable services to its subscribers across the country.
He added that Qcell-SL believes in digital transformation and digital services which are globally competitive, which is why the company rolled out Qpower a very unique and friendly user service in partnership with the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) to enable Qcell-SL customers to recharge their pre-paid EDSA cash power top up units using their Qcell–SL lines.
He said the joint service is unique because customers do not need mobile money anymore to buy recharge for their meters, but can easily use their mobile top ups to buy EDSA recharges.
This service has actually reduced the pain of looking for mobile money agent to cash in, noting that with a credit customers’ phone they can now easily buy and recharge EDSA meters.
Managing Director of EDSA Abubakarr Kamara said Qcell-SL credit is not a money transfer system but a facility that can enable customers to access or buy EDSA top up. He described it as an amazing owing to its rapid improvements of technology which is exactly where the world is going.
Kamara said that as a nation and people we are trying to ensure that Sierra Leone benefit from this advantage Qcell–SL has brought and the other side of EDSA are very excited about.
