Dr. Yeabu Kargbo has today Friday 28/10/2022 in the Speaker’s Conference Room received an award of excellence from the Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Dr. Abass Chernor Bundu, through the Minister of Health and Sanitation, Dr. Austin Demby for her exemplary services in patients care during the 52nd CPA Africa Regional Conference held in Freetown in June, this year.Director General of Parliament, Finda Findosia Fraser said it was a special occasion to recognize the dedication and hard work of Dr. Yeabu Kargbo that resulted in saving the lives of two of our international visitors including the Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly of Nigeria who was seriously sick.
Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Dr. Abass Chernor Bundu said it was good to recognize our heroine when she is alive, and added that the excellence award was in recognition of her professionalism and dedication to duty by the provision of selfless services to patients in need. Furthermore, he said in his twin capacity as Speaker of Parliament and President of CPA Africa Region, he was going to give the award to Dr. Austin Demby for onward submission to Dr. Yeabu Kargbo with a small purse in recognition of her hard work.
Receiving the award for onward transmission to Dr. Yeabu Kargbo, Minister of Health and Sanitation, Dr. Austin Demby said the provision of excellent patients care was primarily to save lives and not to receive awards. He said patients satisfaction was what they desire as medical practitioners and recognized the exemplary services Dr. Yeabu Kargbo delivered in Port Loko, Koinadugu and other places she had worked within the borders of Sierra Leone. He also said that Dr. Yeabu Kargbo had demonstrated professionalism in patients care wherever she works.
In accepting the award, Dr. Yeabu Kargbo expressed dismay and satisfaction and said it was attained as a result of team work by her colleagues in the Mobile Health Clinic. She also praised President Bio for human capital development and the introduction of the mobile health clinic with a view to improving the innovative provision of health services in the country. She thanked Dr. Mustapha for the confidence reposed on her and the Minister of Health and Sanitation, Dr. Austin Demby for his visionary leadership to improve and strengthen the provision of health services in the country.
She also recalled that she came on a short holiday from Canada to see her mother who died three weeks ago, but had stayed on for three years now with the sole purpose of providing continued health care services to the people of Sierra Leone. A decision, she described to be the best in her life. She called on young girls to be educated in order to realize their dreams in society.
