The Presidential Spokesman and Minister of State North-West Region, Hon. Alhaji Alpha Sahid Bakar Kanu has expressed fears for the rejection of his membership offer by the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) party.
Speaking in an interview on Monday 3 July 2023, with the Africa Young Voices (AYV), ‘Wake Up Salone’ television talk show, Hon Alhaji Kanu said since he resigned from the APC party and applied for the membership of SLPP party, he is yet to be approved by his new political family, the SLPP national secretariat on Wallace Johnson Street in Freetown.
Hon. Alhaji Alpha Kanu expressed fears of rejection of his SLPP membership application.
Asked about his next decision, should in case the SLPP party secretariat reject him the membership opportunity of belonging to the ruling party, Alhaji Kanu states, “I will maybe go on a free transfer.”
This uncertainty that had and continues to grips the mind of Hon. Alpha Kanu makes him very worried about his political destiny in the SLPP after the Julius Maada Bio presidency.
With the level of alleged corruption, he stands accused of during his tenure as minister of Mineral Resources, Information and Communications, Public and Political Affairs, Spokesman for the opposition APC party, coupled with his unappreciative resignation from the party, makes Hon. Alhaji Alpha Kanu more worried, if the SLPP reject his membership application.
This is so because, Hon. Kanu is of the strongest of conviction that the opposition APC party will tomorrow become the government of the day.
Rejection from the SLPP as a member makes his political future after the SLPP led-government unpredictable, especially so, when the SLPP would have been degenerated into opposition.
