On 7 November 2024,* the Sierra Leone Embassy in Ankara hosted a significant courtesy visit from Mr. Ferhat Aznevi, the Legal Advisor and Ankara Regional Manager of Türkiye İş Bankası. Ambassador-Designate Dr. Francess V. Anderson (PhD) warmly received Mr. Aznevi, highlighting the Embassy’s ongoing commitment to building strong, mutually beneficial relationships between Sierra Leone and Türkiye.
During the meeting, Mr. Aznevi expressed a keen interest in fostering economic collaboration and identified various areas for potential investment and engagement between the bank and the Embassy. He assured the Ambassador-Designate of his continued support and assistance for any initiatives she may pursue in Türkiye.
Ambassador-Designate Dr. Anderson welcomed his commitment, expressing appreciation for the bank’s openness to collaboration. She shared several trade and economic initiatives she plans to spearhead, emphasizing the critical importance of cooperation across sectors in Türkiye. Dr. Anderson concluded the meeting by reaffirming her commitment to future engagements in trade and investment and acknowledged the numerous Turkish experts and investors interested in forging ties with Sierra Leone.
This visit reflects the Embassy’s dedication to strengthening economic and diplomatic ties with Turkish institutions and fostering opportunities that support both nations’ growth.
