On December 13, 2023, H.E. Chinese Ambassador Wang Qing, Minister of Health of Sierra Leone Dr. Austin Demby and others attended the Opening Ceremony of the Picture Exhibition of the 60th Anniversary of China Dispatching Its First Chinese Medical Team abroad and the 50th Anniversary of China Dispatching Medical Team to Sierra Leone co-hosted by the Chinese Embassy and the 24th batch of Chinese Medical Team to Sierra Leone at the National Library of Sierra Leone.
Ambassador Wang Qing reviewed the history of China dispatching its Chinese medical teams abroad the work of the Chinese medical teams in Sierra Leone. He said that the Chinese medical teams in Sierra Leone have been actively practicing the spirit of “fear no hardships, selfless dedication, life-saving and healing, and boundless love”, and have made important contribution to China and Sierra Leone cooperation in the health sector. The Chinese side will continue to work with the Sierra Leonean side to deepen the cooperation in health sector, and jointly build a global community of health for all.
Minister Demby expressed his sincere appreciation to the Chinese side for its long-term valuable support in promoting Sierra Leone’s health undertakings, saying that a friend in need is a friend indeed, and that China will always be a trustworthy friend. The Sierra Leonean side is willing to deepen medical and health cooperation with the Chinese side, and continuously consolidate the traditional friendship of the two countries.
Ambassador Wang Qing and Minister Demby visited the photo exhibition together. Minister Demby issued honorary certificates to the 24th batch of Chinese medical team members.
