As the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) braces-up toward clinching the June 24th, 2023, presidential elections in Sierra Leone, the party’s Houston-Texas chapter has over the weekend elected new executive in a keenly contested elections. The president elect, Edward Sheka Kargbo, told FORUM in a telephone interview that his election victory does not come as a surprise to him, but due to his leadership credentials while serving in past executives of this chapter as; Whip, Financial Secretary and most recently Vice President saying that handwork pays. This is what has been manifested in the ballot box by the electorates, he said. The president elect vowed to give his best as well as mobilizing that of the entire Houston chapter executive and entire membership to see that the APC party regain power in 24th June 2023 presidential elections. Other members of the newly executive include, Deputy-President Santigie Koroma, Coleson R Conteh Secretary, Abdul Fontie Assistant Secretary, Haja Hurai Kargbo Organizing Secretary, Aminata Bah Deputy Organizing Secretary, Yeabu Koroma, PRO, Doreen Kamara, Deputy-PRO, Yarta B Sesay Sr. Treasurer, Hassanatu Turay Assistant Treasurer, Zainab Funna Women’s Leader, Isatu J Bangura Deputy- Women’s Leader, Idrissa Kargbo Young Leader, Daniel Kamara Deputy-Young leader, Matthew Kamara Veteran Leader and Moses Z. Horton Deputy-Veteran Leader. The president elects expressed optimism in this newly elected executive especially the Deputy- President Santigie Koroma his wife Haja Hurai Kargbo who is also the elected organizing secretary as the nucleus of the organization that are always proactive to see that things are properly done.
He thanked the entire APC executive for the confidence repose in him to lead the Houston chapter as well as the general membership and promised that he will take this chapter to higher height above every other chapter in the US. He urged every executive member to give their best so that they may not only be seen as occupant of such position but very active executive member.
Other members of the Houston Chapter affirmed Mr. Kargbo’s commitment to the cause of the APC party and revealed that with his touch of human kindness couple with his leadership skills, the Houston Chapter is ready create great impact in the upcoming presidential elections.
