The All People’s Congress (APC) Washington DC Chapter has raised an impressive $25,000 during its recently launched Membership Registration and Verification (R&V) exercise, which began last week in Maryland. The milestone marks a strong start to the party’s renewed efforts to engage and formalize its diaspora base within the sixth region.
This landmark initiative is being spearheaded by a two-member delegation from the APC secretariat in Freetown: Comrade Osman Jalloh, the party’s Financial Secretary and head of the delegation; and Abu Bakar Kargbo, commonly known as ABS. The pair arrived in the United States last week to commence the first phase of the diaspora-wide R&V process.
The registration and verification campaign is part of a broader strategy by the APC to strengthen its global grassroots network ahead of upcoming political activities. The sixth region, often referred to as the diaspora region, encompasses party chapters across North America and Europe. Following the successful launch in the Washington DC area, the exercise is set to continue across several key cities in the United States and beyond.
Comrade Osman Jalloh confirmed that the $25,000 raised during the initial phase of the campaign has already been deposited into the party’s dollar account. “This shows strong commitment and enthusiasm from our members in the diaspora,” Jalloh said. “It’s a promising start, and we are optimistic that we will reach our target of $100,000 in the coming weeks.”
After concluding the Washington DC leg of the campaign, the delegation departed from Reagan Airport on Tuesday, July 2, 2025, en route to Columbus, Ohio, where the registration and verification efforts are currently underway. The APC USA District Executive, in collaboration with the Ohio Chapter Executive, has reportedly put in place all necessary logistical and administrative arrangements to ensure a smooth and efficient process.
The delegation is expected to travel next to Arizona and California on Friday before returning to the East Coast to complete the exercise in New York, New Jersey, and Philadelphia (PA). Each location has been tasked with mobilizing members and preparing for the R&V drive in coordination with the national team.
According to party officials, the primary objective of this diaspora-wide R&V exercise is to build a verified, transparent, and engaged membership base outside Sierra Leone. The process also serves as a platform to reaffirm members’ commitment to the party and to solidify organizational structures in preparation for future political mobilization.
The enthusiasm seen during the Washington DC registration is seen as a positive indicator of what the APC diaspora expects to accomplish throughout this exercise. “In the coming weeks, we expect to reach $100,000,” reaffirmed Comrade Jalloh.
The APC leadership believes that a strong, verified diaspora membership is essential to the party’s future success and global outreach. With early signs of momentum and active participation across chapters, the ongoing campaign is poised to make a lasting impact on the party’s international footprint.
As the delegation continues its nationwide tour, all eyes will be on how subsequent chapters match or surpass the strong showing from Washington DC. The APC diaspora remains hopeful and energized as this new chapter in membership mobilization unfolds.
