At EBKUST…  Over 1,600 Bag Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates

The 5th congregation ceremony for the conferment of Degrees and Award of Diplomas and Certificates for the Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology (EBKUST) was held on Saturday 20th January, 2024. The colorful ceremony which took place at the Prof. E.J.J Momoh Pavilion, University Secretariat, Magburaka Campus, saw over 1, 650 students graduating as H.E. Rev’d Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Lomem Alia, Executive Governor, Benue State, Federal Republic of Nigeria served as Guest of Honour.

In his welcome remarks Chancellor Dr. David Omatshola Carew commended the Minister of Higher Education for the introduction of the educational scheme.

He disclosed that the university looks for private support for students who study Banking and Finance, among others.

Rev’d. Prof Edwin J. J. Momoh Vice-Chancellor and Principal said EBKUST is the 3rd owned state University and 6th public university in Sierra Leone.

He congratulated the grandaunts for their accomplishment as that day marked the end and the beginning of another journey.

He said they recognized the key role the university is playing and EBKUST is poised to take the lead in supporting President Bio’s Big 5 which comprises: Feeds Salone, human capital development, youth employment scheme, public Sector Architecture and Technology and infrastructure.

A goodwill message from Liberia was read by the Head of the Liberian delegation.

Minister of Technical and Higher Education, Dr. Haja Ramatulai Wurie, described the day as a significant milestone in their academic journey.

“As we celebrate our graduates, it is also a moment for us to reflect the steps we have taken to transform the educational sector. A key priority for us at the Ministry is a robust legal frame work,” she said.

Also Pro. Aliyageen Mohamed Alghali and Rev’d Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iomem Alia were also conferred Doctor of Humane Letters.
