By ways of demonstrating continuous commitments with high spirits toward supporting sports and the of football, has on Sunday 21st May 2023 symbolically took a kick-off marking the commencement of an opening match between host Bo Rangers and East End Lions from Freetown, shared the official Twitter wall of President Julius Maada Bio.
President Bio among other things officially opened the 6,000 seats Southern Arena Stadium, a remarkable achievement done by a popular businessman and a philanthropist, Babadi Kamara in Bo.
The opening match between the host, Bo Rangers and East End Lions, saw an exhilarating moment for President Bio and his entourage. “I also enjoyed watching both teams trade tackles in the true spirit of the game,” he said and congratulated the East End Lions FC for winning the match.

For his part, Babadi Kamara who is the National Chairman of Bo Rangers and Team Manager of Leone Stars spoke of the said the motive behind the construction of the stadium, which is “to contribute to societal development, develop new players and improve on existing young football stars in the country and to explore their potentials.
Babadi Kamara, who is also Team Manager of Leones Stars, the national team, and Chairman of Bo Rangers Football Club said the motive behind the construction of the stadium is “to contribute to societal development, develop new players and improve on existing young football stars in the country and to explore their potentials”.
He added that development should not only be left in the hands of the central Government and urged individual businesses and private sector players to complement efforts by the Government in nation-building.
The opening ceremony attracted people from across the country and from all walks of life.
Besides, since his ascendence to the presidency of the country President has added more values to the performance of the national team Leone Starts to a peak of motivating the squad to the 2022 African Nations Championship.
