Celebrating this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD) on 8th March 2023, female staffers with banking executive positions at the United Bank for Africa UBA-SL shared their respective thoughts on modern financial administration and service provisions with customers on the bank’s official social media networks.
In her thoughts on gender equity, diversity, finance including technology and innovation, the UBA-SL Chief Finance Officer (CFO), Juliana Asare disclosed how critical such values have so far contributed to the growth and development of the financial service industry.
She underscored the significance of technology and innovation in promoting gender equity and diversity in the banking sector.
Madam Asare expressed believes that technology and innovation can help in creating the level playing field by providing opportunities for women to enter the financial industry and advance their careers.
The UBA-SL CFO further expressed strong believes that gender diversity in the finance service industry is not only the right thing to do, but also essential for the industry thriving for the long term.
She said that by embracing technology, innovation and creating a culture of diversity and inclusion, finance can become more welcoming and equitable industry for everyone.
Head of Customer Experience at UBA-SL Daphne Roy Johnson said innovation has in recent years greatly impacted UBA-SL customers experience.
She said with the proliferation of digital technologies, customers now interact directly with the bank. Madam Roy Johnson informed that they expect a seamless, personalized experience across multiple touchpoints, including websites, mobile apps, social media platforms and more.
She furthered that digital innovation has enabled companies to collect vast amounts of data about their customers, which can be used to deliver personalized experiences.
Madam Roy Johnson said machine learning and AI can analyse such data to understand customer behaviour, preferences, and needs, and use specific information to offer tailored recommendations and contents.
“In addition, digital innovation has also led to the development of new channels for customer engagements, such as chatbots UBA Leo and virtual assistants”, she said. These tools, she explained can provide immediate support and assistance to customers, enhancing their overall experience with the brand.
Madam Roy Johnson said digital innovation has transformed the way companies approach customer experience, allowing them to offer more personalized, convenient, and effective interactions.
On her thoughts on gender equity, technology, and innovation for this year’s IWD, Millicent Yormah, Country Head Human Resources UBA-SL, expressed passionate sentiments about gender equity and diversity.
She sees technology and innovation as key tools to help achieve inclusion, gender equity and diversity in the financial service industry.
Madam Yormah said gender equity is about ensuring that everyone has equal access to opportunities and resources, regardless of their gender, noting the huge potential in innovation and technology to help address the problems of gender inequities.
She said increase access to education and training for girls and women in developing countries can enable them to participate in the technology industry with meaningful contributions.
Madam Yormah called for the inclusion of more diversity in the financial service industry as companies need to do more to create inclusive work environments.
