Chinese Embassy Doles out to RSLAF

The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Sierra Leone has last Friday 18th November 2022 symbolically handed over the Chinese Military Aid to the Government of Sierra Leone at a presentation and handing over ceremony held in Freetown.

Speaking on behalf the Chinese Government and the diplomatic in the country, Chargé d’affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone, Mr. Li Xiaoyong, pointed out that the aid is meant for supporting the commendable efforts of the Government of Sierra Leone and enhance the capacity of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces.

He said the move is as a result of the long standing and profound friendship between armies of the two countries, reassuring that it is also aimed at sustaining China’s continued support to Sierra Leone in pursuing greater developmental goals.

Mr. Li Xiaoyong believed that these items will boost the morale of RSLAF and contribute to the consolidation of peace and security in this country. He said it will help Government in delivering more well-being to the country and to the people.

Mr. Li said that China has embarked on a new journey of modernization as announced during the 20th Communist Party of China (CPC) National Congress, adding that China will continue enhance cooperation with Sierra Leone to promote the mutual partnerships to a new heights.

On behalf of the Government of Sierra Leone, President Julius Maada Bio expressed sincere gratitude to the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the People’s Liberation Army for the extensive and significant support to the RSLAF especially in the security sector.

President Bio said the equipment will support the RSLAF to undertake civil works in disaster mitigation and response, including flood control and medical and humanitarian emergencies.

President Bio promised that Sierra Leone will continue to deepen and promote the solidarity and cooperation between the two nations.
