RESERVE Members of Parliament are being encouraged to act on the climate emergency by the global network of legislators known as Climate Parliament. The group concentrates on the few MPs who are prepared to take the lead on energy planning in their respective legislatures. This special parallel session on energy integration and regional parliamentary collaboration was attended by the Director General of the Sierra Leone Electricity and Water Regulatory Commission Climate Parliament Forum at Golden Impalas Bush Lodge in South Africa’s Dinokeng Reserve.
Dr. Emmanuel Mannah and Honorable Rebecca Yei Kamara (MP in charge of climate Parliament in Sierra Leone). The forum’s goal was to explore SMART cooking techniques with an emphasis on energy planning and modern energy cooking.
In addition to identifying potential solutions from the retreat on the African Working Group of the Green Grids Initiatives. Governments, lawmakers, international organizations, and research institutes came together as part of the Green Grids Initiative to hasten the development of the new infrastructure required for a world powered by sustainable energy.
In the context of the Continental Power System Masterplan, the meeting provided opportunity to discuss regional transmission and interconnection for renewable energy. The United Nations Sustainable Energy for All (UNSEforAll), the Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS), the Climate Parliament, and the UK’s Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) collaborated to organize this meeting.
Representatives from several groups attended the forum, which took place from February 13 to February 20, 2023, at the Golden Impalas Bush Lodge in South Africa’s Dinokeng Reserve.
