All People’s Congress (APC) presidential aspirant Dr. Ibrahim Bangura on Saturday paid his respect at funeral mass and burial ceremony of the late Mrs. Sando Alice Koker (née Vella), mother of Mr. Tommy Kaiza Coker, the APC Southern Region Strong man DIB Movement Leader, held in Jimmi Bagbo, Bo District.
The event drew party faithful, traditional leaders, and community members from across the Southern Region, reflecting both the respect accorded to the Coker family and the growing political unity within the APC under Dr. Bangura’s leadership.
Born on 24th August 1954 in Tikonko Nyagohun Vella Village, the late Mrs. Koker was the daughter of Pa Bockarie Vella, a former Bo School kitchen staff member and Tikonko chieftaincy aspirant, and Madam Jabu Vella Kondea, a respected traditional singer and homemaker from Bonthe District.

“Leadership is not only about elections, it is about humanity,” Dr. Bangura said. “Madam Koker’s life was one of quiet impact and dedication. Her example should inspire us to build a Sierra Leone where compassion and unity guide our actions.”
Other members of the DIB Movement Central Coordinating Committee, alongside regional executives and grassroots supporters, were present at the burial. Many attendees viewed Dr. Bangura’s presence as a demonstration of his inclusive and empathetic leadership, qualities that have continued to define his political engagements as he strengthens the APC’s reach ahead of the 2028 presidential elections.
Observers noted that Dr. Bangura’s growing influence across Sierra Leone, particularly in the South, signals renewed confidence in his ability to unify the party and reconnect the party with communities long considered challenging political terrains.
The late Mrs. Sando Alice Koker was laid to rest in her hometown amidst prayers and tributes celebrating her legacy as a mother, mentor, and community pillar.
