Unisa Turay a former store custodian at the Freetown City Council has been sentenced to fifteen years imprisonment at the Male Correctional facility on Pademba Road, for sexual penetration of a thirteen years old underage girl by Hon. Justice Momoh Jah Steven of the Sexual Offences Model Court in Freetown.

According to the state, Unisa Turay sometime in April to May 2021, engaged in an act of sexual penetration of the minor.

In his testimony before the court, Detective Police 16951, Patrick Alex Grant, attached to the Family Support Unit, at PWD Police Post, Wellington, acknowledged recognition of both the convict, Unisa Turay and the victim when a matter of sexual penetration was reported to him on 31st March 2022.

He informed the court that he issued a medical report form to the victim to seek further medical examinations at a certified hospital; “The victim went to the hospital and later returned with the medical report”, he said, adding that he obtained a voluntary statements from both the convict and the victim.

In his judgement, the learned Judge, Hon. Justice Momoh Jah Steven said the convict undressed the victim, laid her down and penetrated his penis into her vagina. The Hon Judge thus endorsed medical examination and treatment form which showed that victim hymen was completely ruptured.
