Sierra Leone X Military officer, Pessima Lamboi, has on Thursday 2nd October 2023 explained his experience to the Media on how he managed to survive the Boima war. He made this disclosure at his resident at Dazack. According to Pessima Lamboi, he was born in 1921 in a small village called Bailagor near Taiama in the Southern Province of Sierra Leone, adding that he joined the Amy Forces at the age of 21, in 1942 as a recruit, and he got his basic training at Wilberforce Barracks and later he was posted to Daru Barracks in the eastern of Sierra Leone where he completed his training after three months.
The Centenary Man pointed out that after their training at Daru they were informed that they were to be transferred to Indian. One month later, he was taken to Nigeria by sea with thousands of others troops from Sierra Leone.
He explained Where they spent another five months of training in Nigeria before they were finally shipped to India and attached to the 6th infantry Brigade of 81 W A Division in Burma where they were lunched into battle against the Japanese.
Mr. Lamboi also disclosed that he was severely wounded in the battle from a gunshot wound on his back and was admitted to hospital for six months. He said when he recovered from the hospital, the war declared ended in 1945. In December the troops from Sierra Leone finally withdraw back to the country He said.
The X- Service Man in et colonel (Rtd) Secretary General Sorwh Gotter said that he received finical assistance from the Royal Tomrade every six months, for the victim to take care of themselves and family. He said according to the dollar rate presently six millions nine hundred and thirty Leones. Which he gave to passim Lamboi on the 2nd November, 2023.
He said the organization was formed for many years after the end of the Second World War in 1945, the time they discharged soldier world war, they returned home and created the well fear organization in Freetown. He pointed out that the Sierra Leone health services organization is to assist Second World War veteran. He also said at some time organization have dormant, adding that the common wealth organization will visit the veteran in Sierra Leone soon.
