Immigration Recruits 115 New Staff

Under the esteemed leadership of the Chief Immigration Officer, Hon. Alusine Kanneh, the Sierra Leone Immigration has recruited 115 new staff to help the running of the immigration department effectively.

After the recruitment process, they organized a two-day induction ceremony for the recruited staff of immigration department.

Makings his statement, the Chief Immigration Officer Hon. Alusine Kanneh stated that, he assumed office on 3 August 2023. He said before this time the office had over three hundred volunteers and noted that some had volunteered for over a decade now.

He continued that because of the high number of volunteers in Immigration Departments, they asked the volunteers to stop work on Monday 25th September 2023 so that they could look into those volunteering and make them a full active staff. “On Monday 25th September 2023, we asked that all volunteers and auxiliary staff stop working to regularize your statues by being gainfully employed as permanent and pensionable officers in the Sierra Leone Civic Service,” he said.

He congratulated all the 115 staff of Immigration Office and described the event as a good beginning of an exacting journey for both the recruits and the Sierra Leone Immigration Department in the country. He noted that they are thrilled to have the new staff onboard at the Immigration Department.

Mr. Kanneh thanked the leadership of the Human Resource Management Office for their strong commitment in ensuring that one hundred and fifteen volunteers have been absorbed into the Civil Service.

He added that the induction training was designed to equip the recruited staff with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to perform their duties effectively and ethically. He confirmed that the recruits staff would be introduced to the laws and regulations governing Immigration, procedures for handling various situation at the borders, and most importantly, the Civil Service codes, Regulations and Rules. And said they could learn about the human aspect of the job to approach your duties with integrity.

“We’re incredible excited to welcome you to the Immigration family. We’re eager to witness the positive and productive impact your skills, experience, and creativity will have on our team. You guys have been selected to join our ranks because of your individual exception skills, dedication and commitment to upholding the values and responsibilities that come with this vital role,” he said.
