He made this affirmation on the 28 May 2024, at the Ministry of Information and Civic Education press conference held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation conference room Tower Hill Freetown.

According to Minister Bawoh, President Bio has a fundamental obligation to defend the State from any irregularities that might befall the State. Adding that the President would not sit and watch some set of people want to disturb the peace of the country and as such he is ready to guide the citizens of Sierra Leone from any hooligans that want to disturb the state.

“The President made his statement without any apologize because, when someone comes with a stick or stone to fight you and you too just have to take stick to defend yourself,” he stated.

He furthered that they all saw what happened in the November 26 insurrection where lives and properties were destroyed and they can’t seat and wait for similar things to happen.

“We saw what happened in the failed coup in November and this is the similar situation so we can’t just wait for another thing to happen because some people want to make the country ungovernable for the President,” he said.

He admitted that the President came to power through the ballot box in 2023 and if anyone wants to unseat the president, the individual or individuals should wait after the mandate of the president come to an end in 2028, Adding that the people should know that the country’s next election will be held in 2028 and nothing more or less so people should focused on other things so that the president would focus and deliver for the people of Sierra Leone.

Minister Bawoh disclosed that the President’s statement was a reminder of the rumours making the rounds on social media where some people are planning to protest or unseat a democratically elected president.
