President Julius Maada Bio’s Nominee to serve as Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran has received unanimous parliamentary approval.

Ambassador Salamu Koroma was amongst other Nominees unanimously approved by Parliament last Tuesday.

According to the Parliamentary Public Relations Department, the Nominees were interviewed on “oaths, live on media and on strict procedures including educational backgrounds, track records in pertinent work situations, asset declaration, tax obligations, and vision for productive tenures amongst others.”

The following presidential nominees were approved by Parliament: Dr. Julius Fofanah Sandy, Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mr. Salamu Koroma, Ambassador of Sierra Leone to the Islamic Republic of Iran and Mr. Mohamed Sheriff Barrie, Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

During the plenary approval, the Deputy Chief Whip 2 of the opposition APC party from the Western Area, Hon. Kemoh Conteh, described Salamu Koroma as a modest man with unique characters. The MP, reassured the House that he had no iota of doubtsin the Nominee and described his credentials as equivalent to the new task.

Hon. Billoh Shaw from Falaba District also described Envoy Salamu Koroma as a professional administrator with diligent personality.

Majority of the honourable members from both the ruling SLPP government and the opposition APC unanimously heaped praises on Ambassador Salamu for his excellent and unique human relationship.

Concluding the approval session, the Acting Leader of Government Business, Hon. Bashiru Sidikie pointed out that Mr. Salamu Koroma treated his former office as State Chief of Protocol (SCOP) to President Bio on the predicate of building strong human relationship and asked others to emulate.

In his felicitation, the Acting Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Ibrahim Tawa Conteh advised the Ambassadors to ensure that they work diligently to promote economic diplomacy between Sierra Leone and the countries they were accredited to.

After the Parliamentary approval of Ambassador Salamu Koroma, there was jubilation all over the place. The rejoicing and jubilation of the people over Parliament’s unanimous approval of HE Salamu Koroma as Sierra Leone’s new envoy to the Islamic Republic of Iran clearly demonstrates how people could reward a kind and selfless figure, who, over the years, has rendered his services to his compatriots without the least discrimination.

People came from every nook and cranny of Sierra Leone just to express their happiness, appreciation and gratitude to Mr. Koroma for his salient performance in the Civil Service and community.

At all his previous places of service, Ambassador Salamu exhibited his humility, patriotism and readiness to serve Sierra Leone and Sierra Leoneans on an equal footing. And that’s why people converged in droves to remind him of the goodies they enjoyed from his kindness, friendliness and generosity.

Undoubtedly, there is always a payment time for whatever deeds one does. Therefore, it’s very important for holders of key and sensitive  positions in whatever domains to know that they stand to be paid back in kind for the nature of the services they render to the people. One cannot sow wheat and harvest rice.

The wise are those who would realize that the time of reckoning undoubtedly awaits them, so that they would calculate every move they make and every action they take.

Sierra Leoneans resident in Iran should equally rejoice for being blessed to have a well-rounded and seasoned diplomatic figure in the person of Salamu Koroma to serve as Sierra Leone  Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

As a former colleague at our Mission in Saudi Arabia, let me delightfully take the opportunity to sincerely congratulate Ambassador Salamu for his deserved appointment.
