President Julius Maada Bio took center stage at the inaugural Salone Civic Festival organized by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education (MoICE), marking a significant milestone in showcasing government’s progress in delivering on the “Big Five” game changers. The festival, organised as a platform for promoting civic education and community involvement, emphasised the transformative power of active citizenship in shaping the future of Sierra Leone.
In his address at the event, President Bio underscored the importance of civic education in transcending traditional classroom learning and fostering a mindset shift for the betterment of the country.
He stressed the need for citizens to recognize their identity, understand their origins, and define their aspirations as a united nation. The president called on Sierra Leoneans to unite in harnessing their strengths and work towards fulfilling their civic responsibilities in transforming the nation.
The Salone Civic Festival served as a Launchpad for the government’s civic education strategy aimed at promoting collaboration and effective civic duty among citizens. President Bio expressed confidence in the collective efforts of Sierra Leoneans to honor their responsibilities and elevate the nation as a source of pride on the global stage. He urged the populace to prioritize Sierra Leone and commit to driving positive change within their communities.
Throughout the event, attendees engaged in workshops, panel discussions, and cultural performances that celebrated the diverse heritage and unity of Sierra Leone. The festival provided a pivotal platform for citizens to interact with government officials.
