Power to the People (PTTP) Movement under the incisive leadership of the founder, Alfred P. Sesay has recently donated five hundred veronica buckets to less opportune communities across the country, as part of its contributions to the national efforts in the fight against COVID 19 pandemic.

The donations targeted residents of disadvantaged communities in various sections including the Western Urban and Rural district.

Speaking on behalf of the founder of National Coordinator, PTTP Movement Abdul Karim Kamara said they are committed to support their fellow Sierra Leoneans and the Government to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

He said the donation came because they thought it fit that vulnerable people are found in every part of the country, citing that as a way of softening the COVID-19 pandemic effects on the needy amidst relentless spikes of number of cases and deaths in the country.

Coordinator Kamara furthered that his Movement always identify itself with the struggles of Sierra Leoneans especially during crisis, noting that when they learnt about the rate at which people go hungry during this pandemic, they were shaken beyond description, which according to him, spurred them to provide preventive equipment to help the most vulnerable.

He disclosed that the Movement is looking forward and are committed to do more in future as they are now mobilizing funds for that purpose.

Kamara encouraged recipients to place the buckets at strategic points so that can be easily accessed.

Receiving the donation, Madam Beatrice, lady in-charge for People with Disabilities at Frontier Road, Makeni Town, said the supporting items will stop the spread of the coronavirus disease.

She observed that Government has put firm measures in place to protect its people from contacting the virus, which is why they were provided with those protective equipment sent by Mr. Alfred P Sesay.

Jane Bangura, a resident of Waterloo in the Western Rural District, profusely thanked the PTTP Movement for wiping away their tears, as the donation came at a time when they are expecting another lockdown.

“Many people don’t use facemasks nor wash their hands because they can’t afford to keep the pace with change,” she said, whiles reassuring the PTTP Movement that they will use the items judiciously.

Joseph Kamara at Wellington in the Western Urban expressed his utter satisfaction for receiving the buckets as they can’t afford to provide food for themselves not talk of buying veronica buckets.

He said the donation did not came as a surprise to them as they were expectant, knowing who the man Mr. Alfred P. Sesay is. “We the youth thanked PTTP Movement for have always been there for us in the hour of needs. To be honest, the buckets came at the right time,” he said.
