It is evident that since Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) took up governance development has become stagnated. Majority are with the concept that the only things that are visible; Political intimidation, unlawful killings, arbitrary arrests, starvation, inflation and corruption.

During their campaign period, they vehemently tantalized the citizens that there would be enough food on the table and poverty would take it permanent exit door. These statements on the other hand trapped many citizens to be convinced that their lives would be improved exponentially not knowing that it is a mere grandiloquence. In fact, the administration has added more values to the sufferings of the masses with impunity.

However, Opposition Chief, Hon. Abdul Karim Kamara continues to illuminate on the burning issues the people are enduring. According to him, there are no tangible developments the current administration has implemented that helped to augment the livelihoods of the citizens.

Also, he emphasized that the country’s economy is in a precarious stage as many citizens are unable to secure their daily bread due to the deliberately effort of the government to remove subsidies on basic commodities. He sensed that the citizens are now surviving like magicians without any optimism for the future.

Again, Opposition Chief Whip succinctly analysed the different prices of the country’s staple diet as there’s an acute increment: “Today a bag of rice in Freetown is Le 989.00;    Kambia Town is Le 1000.00 …”

Furthermore, he maintained that the above prices are those areas that are bit closer to Freetown and he is worried about those communities that are far-fetched; Kailahun, Bomaru, Koindu, Rutile, Bonth, Kabala etc how a bag of rice would cost them.

Moreover, what’s perturbed his mind most is that the government keeping on swelling the prices of commodities without any consideration on salary increments for some labourers. He said there’s money on the land but it’s only circulating on certain individuals that are connected to the power whilst those who are not opportune are languishing.

He concluded to say that the worst is ahead for the poor masses as they would continue to suffer unjustly.
