We in this medium have the belief that SAMURA KAMARA deserves no third term. So relax as we unfold our findings and beliefs of the people.
Well-meaning Sierra Leoneans yarning for positive change hold the strongest views that the former opposition All People’s Congress (APC) presidential aspirant for the June 24 2023 election, DR SAMURA MATTHEW WILSON KAMARA deserves no third term. He has had enough of his. Party constitutionality or not DR SAMURA KAMARA needs to respectfully leave the stage before he is told to hands off APC politics. He is not the only knowledgeable candidate to lead the party to victory. Now is the right time to tell him in his face that third term is no democracy. And re-imposing himself on the APC for the third time will be a looming danger for the party. Hence whatever the situation is, power must change hands from all fronts no matter the delays. And not even the compromised Leader of the Opposition in the House of Parliament, Hon Abdul Kargbo deserves another chance to serve in that capacity after the end of the Sixth Parliament. The reason being is that Kargbo seems to have gone off his soul to the incumbent Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) since his last visit to President Bio at State House. Kargbo therefore at the end of his term requires a replacement with a trustworthy loyalist and nationalistic APC partisan than him. So he keeps seeking his selfish desire in the name of this is his time; knowing fully well that double standards have overweighed the party at the detriments of members and supporters. Double standards will soon be a thing of the past and Kargbo’s double deals in parliament will be discussed in subsequent TALKING POINTS.
To attempts by pro-Samura Kamara partisans trying to recycle the 2023 candidate and re-impose him on the APC for the third time will be surly met with heavy backlash. A looming situation that has already sparked stiff resistance from among APC democrats with intense rejection of DR SAMURA KAMARA and his failed executive third coming, having ‘sold their victory’ to the authoritarian SLPP and President Julius Maada Bio. A third term for DR SAMURA KAMARA won’t in anyway work this time around! Enough is enough!
DR SAMURA KAMARA and his executive willingness to stay and die in oppressive opposition, according one APC hardliner who spoke to FORUM to in Makeni, is something that will cost him and his political career, not to mention the country’s presidency. We are not impressed with the leadership of certain APC politicians, especially with the likes of the very DR SAMURA KAMARA, HON ALHAJI MINKAILU MANSARAY, AMBASSADOR ALHAJI OSMAN FODAY YANSANEH and the entire national executive. They must hands off APC politics going forward. Their attitudes towards the general welfare of us are not in the best interests of the party, but their selfish desires. We know and strongly believed that they have sold our party to the devilish SLPP counterpart only to save their loots and unexplained wealth, the anonymous APC members charged. He added that this set of APC leaders can no longer be tolerated by the party, no matter what it takes they shall continue to denounce from now unto the next national primaries.
Asked about his loyalty to DR SAMURA KAMARA and the former vice presidential candidate, CHRENOR RAMADAN MAJU BAH, he replied; ‘I am not a primitive loyalist to any individual selfish politician, but to the APC and my country Sierra Leone. We know and strongly believe that no sooner the APC assume governance the party will surely address the social and economic welfare of the people as part of its avowed constructive nationalism policies. Individual politicians are not my concerns, he said.
Like the embittered anonymous APC member, a mobile credit recharge vendor, who sells electronic top up at the Makeni Clock Tower, in Makeni, initially declined from identifying himself by his real name, though later preferred to be called Saidu Tonkla Bangura for the sake of that interview. Bangura not his real name, said; ‘Our APC leaders have deceived us to an extent that there is nobody left in the party to trust. We are being victimized by the SLPP because of our support and loyalty to the APC, but it appears as if we don’t have leaders to defend us anymore. There is nobody to talk for and on our behalves. We are left vulnerable at the mercies of SLPP government and regime police assailants, who are always bent on killing us and our families with impunity whenever there is a problem in the country. Our homes and communities became prime targets of armed police and military personnel since 4 April 2018 to date. Most of our people have been killed in cold blooded. Others are being arrested and detained indiscriminately on orders from above as if there is nothing called the RULE OF LAW in Sierra Leone. Yet DR SAMURA KAMARA always tends to be unaware of the intimidations by state sponsored perpetrators. These are not why we opted for DR SAMURA KAMARA and his executive. We deserve better representations from our wards, regions, districts and constituencies across the country. We didn’t vote dumbs. We never know they were dumbs, except if they have mortgaged the interest of the party. Bangura recalled that since the return of the SLPP to office barely six years ago APC members have been constantly subjected to oppression and all sorts of intimidation by their SLPP opponents for reasons best known to them. He furthered that jobs on which they were placed before the transition are no longer theirs because of ethnic and regional divisions under the hegemonic rule of President Bio strongly backed by DR SAMURA KAMARA.
Roving further in Makeni, similar resentments emerged from among youth, women and the aged amid widely divided communities; furtherance calling for a strong and formidable APC leadership that is capable enough to liberate Sierra Leone and the party from the claws of Bio’s SLPP tyranny. A regime all and sundry appeared to be disgusted, fed up and tired with, due to the mass failures in good governance, national unity, peace and stability, fiscal and economic management, cost of living, education, energy, water, human rights, infrastructure, job creation and youth unemployment, media freedom and free speech et-al, with ripple effects on the country’s economy and democratic consolidation with the opposition deadly mute in the whole democratic process.
On the serious trending concerns, APC members and supporters continue to frown at DR SAMURA KAMARA, blaming him of deliberate refusal to take up issues with President Bio for serious actions.
Another hardliner who spoke to FORUM at the APC national secretariat, on 11A Railway Line in Freetown, said; ‘We shall get to the drawing board soonest, probably by the time the Tripartite Committee on the elections shall have wrapped up. And those hiding under the canopies of that committee on borrowed time will be exposed and shown the exit out of the APC at the next national delegates’ conference. We cannot continue to be surrogated under the dictates of just few toothless bulldogs. We need firebrands who can take us to the next presidential election and by extension to State House, not weak negotiators who are afraid of going to jail.
Too much of one thing is good for nothing again enough is enough! SAMURA KAMARA and co must stay off the stage and allow better and vibrant hands to handle and run the affairs of the APC party in far better ways than they have held the party backwards all these years.
