The Media and Marketing Department of the Sierra Leone Football Association, represented by its head Ibrahim Kamara and Schools Program and Facility Officer Samuel Borbor Davies, was among ten selected Member Associations in Africa to participate in a 2-day training workshop in Digital Marketing Skills at the FIFA Regional Headquarters in Kigali, Rwanda on the 18th and 19th December, 2023.
The workshop was the face-to-face segment of the ongoing FIFA Digital Marketing Skills online courses in partnership with Coursera, to enhance the capacity of FIFA Member Association media across the globe with particular reference to content creation and digitalized fan engagement.
The opening ceremony was witnessed by the President of the Rwandan Football Association Munyantwali Alphonse, FIFA Head of Development Programmes in Africa Solomon Mudege, FIFA Digital Skills Program Director Madam Ekta Hutton and the Assistant Program Coordinator Augustin Vílleges.Also present as a special guest trainee was CAF’s Project Manager of the African Schools Programme Yvonne Namai Mukaban.
In her opening statement, Ekta Hutton congratulated all participants for working hard to qualify their respective associations to the list of top ten outstanding MAs in Africa, as portrayed in the FIFA Digital Marketing Skills Online Courses. She furthered by describing the workshop as “a journey towards embracing digital transformation”.
Two participants from each of the following nations; Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mauritius, Gabon, Guinea and the host Rwanda successfully completed the training under the dynamic tutelage of renown Digital Marketing experts; Andrew Davies a top digital marketing trainer in the UK and Mounia Wanzi a digital marketer at the Royal Belgian Football Association.
The training took aim at numerous areas in Digital Marketing, including but not limited to Content Creation, Content Distribution and promotion and Fan Engagement using several trending marketing tools.
