Alice Yatta Moisia, an ardent APC supporter and an aspiring candidate for a councillor, seat was on Tuesday night 11th April, 2023 allegedly attacked, manhandled and brutalized by a group of ruling SLPP supporters at 1 Brima Kargbo Street, Sembeck Section in Kenema, Kenema District, Eastern Sierra Leone.
According to the victim, a group of alleged SLPP thugs invaded her house at night forced their way in, threatened to undress her naked and also manhandled her children.
Madam Moisia also alleged that SLPP operatives who stormed her resident in their Chinese numbers, shouted that they will kill her and her children for supporting because of their loyalties and support to the opposition APC. She explained that the hoodlums urged her and her family not to support the APC because they are Mendes describing the APC as a Themne and Limba party.
Madam Moisia disclosed that immediately after SLPP operatives’ intimidation she and her family fled Kenema for fears for their lives, having reported the matter to the Kenema Police Division without reaction from the Police. She said the police only issued her and her children police medical examinations request form but on their way to the Kenema Government Hospital, another group of SLPP operatives attacked them for the second time and pelted stones and other deadly weapons at them. She said that they escaped into the bush as they couldn’t be helped by anyone. Not even the protection of the police.
The victim of physical political intimidation furthered that while they were in the bush one of her children informed a renowned journalist in Freetown, called Arthur Caulker, who came to their rescue with his car and drove them safely to Freetown.
According to the victim, even in Freetown, they are being constantly harassed and threatened by unknown SLPP operatives.
