We Have Positively Impact Youth -Youth Minister

The Minister of Youth Affairs, Mohamed Orman Bangura has informed the media that his ministry has over the years positively impacted the lives of youth citing youth in car wash project and fish farming amongst others.

Bangura made this statement on Tuesday 15 August 2023 at a press briefing held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Corporation conference room, Tower Hill, Freetown.

He informed that his ministry continues to benefit from donor support, pointing out that the Ministry of Youth Affairs has implemented projects that have provided more jobs for youth. Bangura said the fish farming project where boats were dished out to youth for a minimal sum.

Bangura said the just concluded International Youth Day observed with the theme; “Green Skills for Youth Towards Sustainable World”.

He encouraged youth to be skillful and explore social media wisely for the right reasons, noting jobs are available on the social media but limited certified skills has prevented many from accessing such jobs.

Bangura reassured the media of government’s commitment towards addressing the rampant abuse of Kush.

He disclosed government’s plans of targeting the supply and distribution channels of the drugs and actively engage and respond to the steady increase of mental health crisis faces by youth of the country.

Minister of Information, Communications and Civic Education, Chernor Bah said the fight against Kush should be a comprehensive approach that must requires the collaboration of every Sierra Leonean to combat the drug. “We have to do more for our youth to create safe space for youth to live pleasant lives in the country”, he said.

In the first term of President Bio, he invested in education, with his big five game changers and agriculture remains his focus.

Over the past years, two thousand youth have been trained to operate tractors with a certificate in an event of any employment opportunities.

Since the year 2001 unto date, over three thousand youth trained on digital scale and are now gainfully employment, Youth minister told the media.
