Who hires the co-president?

Who hires the co-president?

Sierra Leoneans are wondering about the behavioural patterns of certain personalities around the presidency at State House, and at Presidential Lodge at Hill Station in Freetown. They are also concerned about who exactly hired some of these unethical characters around the first gentleman of the land. Some of the legitimate concerns being raised by top ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) executive members have to do with why the Chief Executive himself is deadly mute about the unscrupulous conducts of certain power-drunken people around the seat of power in Freetown. Critically minded SLPP executive members and followers are also questioning who actually does what at the presidency. Nevertheless, most if not all SLPP members are not bold enough to look the Chief Executive in his face and tell him the truth about unethical things around him. They rather prefer to register their disgusts everywhere outside the seat of power; at café shops, public transports, as well as on the new media, all grumbling bitterly about the dishonourable conduct of the wife of the president, Mrs Fatmata Bio. Mrs Bio is always duplicating her husband’s presidential roles, especially at public functions. An unacceptable attitude presidential under normal diplomatic protocols, as it speaks to the fact that the president does not perform his public duties and functions well even when in public, which is why the first lady is always buttressing him with redundancies and inconsistencies. It also informs that President Bio shares his presidential and executive powers including other responsibilities with his wife, the co-president.

However nobody, not even elders of the SLPP party can face Bio with the hard fact about his wife’s forceful and unethical push into the governance structure of the country. Such performances were never manifested by Mrs Bio’s predecessors. Besides, Madam Patricia Kabbah of blessed memories and former First Lady, Madam Sia Nyama Koroma ethically conducted themselves well in their offices, which at least could have serve as a stepping stones for Mrs Bio. They always allowed their husbands to take the front seats and performed their public functions without duplications as it is now at the presidency, under the Bio hegemony.

Mrs Bio was certainly not elected as president, but Julius Maada Bio is the man whom Sierra Leoneans signed a five years social contract with, via the ballot box though… Mr Bio is the only Sierra Leonean who is expected to serve as president of Sierra Leone, for the specific timeframe under review as per law. Nobody hires neither elected the wife of the president, Mrs Bio as a co-president, although she’s always forcefully pushing her way into the executive, performing presidential functions; which not even any member of the Bio family are mandated to perform. In other words the president shares his powers and responsibilities with nobody. Not even his wife, Mrs Bio who now serves as a co-president of Sierra Leone wherever she goes with her husband is mandated to perform as president, especially when the husband is alive and well.

Moreover, whenever president Bio speaks at public functions, his wife, Mrs Bio the co-president of the country too will also make her own remarks at the same function, duplicating exactly what her husband had earlier said. And in so doing Mrs Bio always laced her statements with inaccuracies and inconsistencies, to a point of hurting senior government officials, SLPP party executive members and the entire nation.

The first lady is on records for her persistent and deliberate duplications of the roles and functions of the president under the direct watch of her husband president Bio. That unacceptable routine of Mrs Bio which has already gone beyond boarders, is a disgrace to the Sierra Leone presidency, and the country as a whole. In fact, presidential and diplomatic protocols hardly permit that, so it must be rigidly managed before Sierra Leone disgracefully reached a point of being ruled by two presidents, President Julius Maada Bio and co-president, Mrs Fatmata Bio. A novelty in the history of a country that has produced perfectly cultured and well-mannered first ladies before.

So many SLPP party elders are fed up and disgusted with the situation at hand especially when they are fully aware of the fact that they didn’t vote the president’s wife as co-president, nor any of his relatives, but he himself (Julius Maada Bio) as the one and only president of Sierra Leone, for a period of five years. Hence he must be seen serving in such capacity alone, except for those legally permitted by law such as the Hon. vice president of the country and other members of the executive arm of government, rather than Mrs Bio always duplicating the functions of the president in public. And as a matter of public concern relating the conducts of people around the presidency as well as who hire them, Forum, will in subsequent continue to raise the legitimate concerns about who exactly hires the co-president.
