The youngest Member of Parliament in the Well of Parliament, Hon. Alice Konya Sandy Esq, has once again demonstrated her unwavering commitment to education and the welfare of children in Constituency 016, Kenema District, by providing food for all pupils sitting to the National Primary School Examination (NPSE) on Saturday 9th May 2026.
The remarkable gesture benefited more than 800 pupils drawn from over 36 primary schools across the constituency, who sat their examinations at four major examination centres namely; Kaisamba Memorial School Nekabo, Apex Secondary School Hangha, National Islamic Primary School Largo, and KMDEC Secondary School Talia.
The initiative forms part of Hon. Alice Konya Sandyβs continuous support to the educational sector in her constituency, especially in creating a conducive and comfortable environment for pupils during important public examinations. According to many parents and teachers, the feeding support came at the right time, as it eased the burden on families and ensured that pupils remained focused, energetic, and motivated throughout the examination process.
Teachers, parents, community stakeholders, and the pupils themselves expressed profound appreciation to Hon. Alice Konya Sandy Esq for what they described as a thoughtful, timely, and impactful intervention. Many described her as a caring leader who consistently places the interests of children and education at the center of her leadership priorities.
Speaking on behalf of Ansarul Islamic Primary School Hangha, the Head Teacher, Mr. Mustapha Fabai, thanked Hon. Alice Konya Sandy Esq for her continued dedication to the development of education in Constituency 016. He noted that the feeding initiative did not come as a surprise to many because the Honourable Member of Parliament has over the years remained actively supportive of schools within the constituency.
βThis is not the first time Hon. Alice Konya Sandy is supporting education in our constituency. She has consistently provided learning materials, encouraged pupils, and supported schools in various ways. Todayβs gesture clearly shows that she truly values the future of our children,β Mr. Fabai stated.
Also expressing her appreciation, the Head Mistress of National Islamic Primary School Largo, Miss Wuya Gandi, described the gesture as historic and highly commendable. She explained that many parents had gathered together in appreciation of the Honourableβs kindness and support, noting that the burden of preparing food for children during the examination period had been greatly reduced this year.
βThis support has brought joy to parents, teachers, and pupils alike. Hon. Alice Konya Sandy has shown genuine love and concern for the welfare of these children. Providing food during NPSE examinations is something many families deeply appreciate,β she remarked.
Parents who spoke during the exercise commended the Honourable Member of Parliament for always identifying with the people at the grassroots level and for continuously supporting vulnerable families through meaningful interventions. They prayed for more wisdom, strength, and success for her leadership journey.
The pupils themselves were visibly excited and grateful, describing the moment as memorable and motivating during one of the most important stages of their academic journey.
Hon. Alice Konya Sandy Esq continues to earn admiration across Constituency 016 for her youth-driven leadership, accessibility, and passion for community development, especially in the areas of education, youth empowerment, and social welfare. Her latest intervention has once again reaffirmed her commitment to investing in the future of children and promoting quality education within Kenema District.
