Julian Awoonor –Renner, of Signal Hill Road, Freetown has implicated a popular businessman and the former Peoples Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC) politician, Femi Hebron in a matter involving robbery with aggravation.
This was made public by the Regional Commander, Freetown West, Assistant Inspector General of Police, Sylvester Koroma, at the Sierra Leone Police weekly news conference on George Street, Freetown.
According to AIG Koroma, Julius Awoonor was attacked by a group of seven unknown men armed with a short gun raffle and cutlasses.
The unknown gunmen shot him in both legs and inflicted severe wound on his head, Police Commander told journalists..
AIG Koroma said that the attackers carted away with other valuable items, including his IPhone 13 Pro Max mobile phone linked to the complainant Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) camera.
According to the Regional Commander, remarked that on completion of their mission, the attackers have it that they were acting on the instructions of his uncle Mr. Femi Hebron, with whom the complainant has a dispute over a house at signal Hill Road.
In related development, Regional Commander, Freetown West, Sylvester Koroma on Wednesday 24th May 2023 informed journalists that three suspect are currently in police custody for robbery.
According to the Regional Commander, a High Court Judge, Hon. Justice Alfred Ganda was allegedly robbed at his resident at Kabba Drive, Mosimbo, Off Upper Barthust in the Mountain Rural district.
He continued, that on Friday 19th May 2023, a group of men break and forcefully entered the house of the High Court Judge, placed him under gun point and robbed him of Three Hundred United States Dollars (USD $300), three lap top computers, two mobile phones, with sum of Fourteen Thousand New Leones (NLe.14,000).
In another development, he informed the media that one Mohamed Lamin Turay is currently in police custody for stabbing to death one Ibrahim Turay at Congo Town.
He said media and Civil Society activists suspect that Mohamed Lamin Turay was later arrested with the help of the youth.
He informed that the remains of the late Ibrahim Turay has been conveyed to the government mortuary awaiting postmortem examinations.
The Regional Commander, Freetown West, AIG Sylvester Koroma informed that on 7th May, 2023, one Ndye of No 23, Lightfoot Boston Road, Off Wilkinson Road, reported that an unknown men armed with cutlass break into his house and robbed her with the sum of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000), three laptop computers, two phones, two iPads, wrist watch, jewelleries and other valuable items totalling to Two Hundred and Forty-Four Thousand New Leones.
