Freetown, Sierra Leone, four accused persons on Friday, 25 October, 2024 was arraigned before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 on four count charges of conspiracy contrary to law, robbery with aggravation contrary to Section 23 (1) of the larceny Act 1916 as repealed and replaced by Section 2 Act No. 16 of 1971 and receiving stolen property contrary to Section 33 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916. The following accused are, David Koroma, alias 30, Noah Kamara, Mohamed Kanneh alias coin and Gloria Fatmata Kargbo.
According to the particulars of offence, on an unknown date, in the Freetown Judicial District in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone conspired together with other persons unknown to commit a felony to wit robbery and aggravation.
Count two revealed that on Friday 6 September, 2024 at Sandy Drive, New Jersey Angola Town, Goderich, Freetown, being armed with cutlasses, bottles, irons and knives, robbed Idrissa Sesay of a fiscal cash of Twelve Thousand Leone (Le 12,000), one black mifi-modem valued Seven Hundred and Fifty Leone (Le750), one iPhone mobile phone valued nine Thousand Leones (Le 9,000), one infix mobile phone valued Seventeen Thousand Leones (Le 17,000), one infix mobile phone valued Three Thousand Five Hundred Leones (Le 3,500), one item button mobile phone valued Two Hundred and Fifty Leones (Le 250), two (2) pairs of assorted colour crapes each valued Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Leones (Le 250), Idrissa listed a lot of items that was stolen from him, which total the amount of Forty-Three Thousand Three Hundred and Fifty Leones (Le 43,350).
Count three mentioned that you on the same date and place also robbed Isatu Conteh of one infinix Hut 30 mobile phone value Three Thousand Five Hundred Leones (3,500) did use personal violence on the said Isata Conteh.
Count four further stated that you Gloria Fatmata on the same date and place did received three assorted colour lady’s sandals each value one hundred Leones (Le100) all total value Three Hundred Leones (Le 300) properties of Isatu Conteh knowing same to be stolen.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused persons no plea given to the 1st,2nd and 3rd accused persons while the 4th accused pleaded not guilty.
The defence counsel, A. Y. Conteh pleaded on behalf of the fourth accused to be granted bail as she has reliable surety and certain amount of money has been paid to the complainant.
The state prosecutor K. Taylor sought for a short adjournment date to have proper interrogation with her witnesses.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Sahr Kekura granted bail to the fourth accused in the sum of Five thousand Leone (5,000) with two sureties who must be a resident in Freetown with a value National Identity Card.
However, Magistrate Kekura refused bail to the first, second and third accused and sent them to Male Correctional Centre in Freetown. The case has been adjourned to the 1st November, 2024, for further proceedings.
