The much anticipated match drew a large crowd of legal practitioners, public officials, and football enthusiasts, creating a vibrant atmosphere that blended sport with professional camaraderie. The symbolic kick off was performed by the Honourable Chief Justice Komba Kamanda, who also serves as Chairman of the ECOWAS Judicial Council, underscoring the significance of the event within the country’s legal and institutional landscape.

From the opening whistle, both sides displayed determination and teamwork, turning the encounter into a spirited contest that kept spectators engaged throughout. The game was not only about competition but also about strengthening relationships among professionals from different sectors who gathered in a rare moment of relaxation and unity outside their demanding duties.

At the final whistle, the Sierra Leone Bar Association secured victory, earning the honour of being crowned inaugural champions of the prestigious trophy. Their triumph was met with cheers and applause from supporters who witnessed a contest defined by discipline, sportsmanship, and mutual respect.

Speaking after the match, the President of the Bar Association, Adama Gento Kamara, expressed delight over the team’s achievement and the broader impact of the event. She noted that the victory symbolized more than just success on the pitch, emphasizing that it reflected unity, resilience, and the collective spirit of the legal profession.

“This is a proud moment for the Bar. While we celebrate this win, what stands out most is the sense of togetherness it has inspired among colleagues and institutions. Events like this remind us that beyond the courtroom, we are part of a shared national mission,” she said.

Madam Kamara further encouraged continued engagement between institutions through sports and other informal platforms, noting that such interactions help build trust, reduce tension, and promote collaboration in the discharge of national responsibilities.

Also speaking at the event, the Commissioner of the Anti Corruption Commission, Francis Ben Kaifala, commended the organizers for what he described as a well coordinated and impactful initiative. He highlighted the importance of unity among public institutions, stating that collaboration is essential in strengthening governance and accountability.

“This match has shown that institutions can come together in a positive and engaging way. It is a reminder that teamwork and integrity are not only values we promote in our work but also in how we relate with one another,” he remarked.

Observers noted that the event served as a platform for fostering goodwill and reinforcing professional networks in a relaxed environment. The presence of key figures from the judiciary, legal profession, and other sectors added to the importance of the occasion.

The successful hosting of the match and the emergence of a first time champion mark the beginning of what many hope will become a lasting tradition. As the Sierra Leone Bar Association celebrates its victory, the broader message of unity, cooperation, and national cohesion remains the true highlight of the Chief Justice Komba Kamanda Trophy.
