In a powerful demonstration of youth commitment and party loyalty, Vamunya Mohamed Sheriff paid a high-profile courtesy visit to the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) National Headquarters in Freetown on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
A native of Constituency 007, Jeweh Chiefdom in Kailahun District, Mr. Sheriff—who currently resides in Pennsylvania—was received by the National Chairman, Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa, and the party’s executive leadership.
The highlight of the visit was Mr. Sheriff’s donation of five 65-inch smart televisions to the party. He noted that the gift was inspired by his profound admiration for the strategic vision and inclusive leadership provided by Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa.
Crucially, Sheriff clarified that his donation was a personal act of service rather than a politically motivated move. He lauded the SLPP for successfully fostering an environment where young people feel genuinely welcomed and empowered to contribute to the national discourse.
Beyond his support for the party, Sheriff discussed his grassroots initiatives in the Jeweh Chiefdom, where he is actively working to create sustainable opportunities for local youth. His dual focus on community development in Daru and national progress through the SLPP highlights a model of “giving back” that transcends borders.
National Secretary General Paran Tarawally expressed gratitude, assuring Mr. Sheriff that his contribution would be officially recognized among party stakeholders.
Chairman Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa commended Mr. Sheriff’s exemplary patriotism and his dedication to his home chiefdom. He emphasized that the equipment would be put to immediate use and took the opportunity to call for a unified front as the party prepares for the 2028 elections.
The visit of Mr Vamunya Mohamed Sheriff serves as a testament to the vital role the diaspora and young advocates play in strengthening the SLPP’s infrastructure and its connection to the grassroots.
