Alleged Notorious Armed Robbers, Robbery Principal, High Court Judge and businessman

A motorcycle rider John Bangura forty-one, a labourer Samuel Koroma, twenty-eight, Hassan Kamara, thirty, Alie Sesay, twenty-six, Yusif Kanu, thirty-five, twenty-seven Abubakar Sidique and Mohamed Suma thirty-two have made their first appearance before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown.

The are before the court for three different files against serial numbers CS1618/2023, CS1622/2023 and CS1623/ 2023 on a similar offences of conspiracy to commit a felony contrary to law, robbery with aggravation contrary to Section 23 (1) (a) of the Larceny Act 1916 as repealed and replaced by Section 2 of Act No.16 of 1971 and Receiving stolen goods contrary to Section 33 (1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of offence on a date unknown between 6 to 16 May 2023 in Freetown, conspired together and with other persons unknown to commit a felony to wit robbery with aggravation on count two the 1, 2 3 and 4 accused persons on the 16 May 2023 at No.7A Signal Hill Road in the Western Area in Freetown for being armed with a shot gun and machetes, robbed Julian Awoonor Renner one Sony A7M3 camera, two IPhones 14 Pro-max, one air pod max, and other valuable items with a physical cash of Five Hundred United States Dollars, all to the total value of Two Hundred and Eight Thousand, Two Hundred and Sixty Leones (NLe208,260.00) and at the time of or immediately before or immediately after such robbery did use personal violence to the said Julian Awoonor Renner, on count three the 5 and 6 accused persons did received one Sony A7M3 camera, two Iphones, three perfumes and other items all to the total value of Two Hundred and Eight Thousand Two Hundred and Sixty Leones (NLe208,260.00) Property of the said complainant

On CS1623/2023 on count two the 1 2 and 3 accused persons on Sunday 7 May 2023 at No.23D Lightfoot Boston Road in the Western Area in Freetown being armed with a shot gun and machetes robbed Ndye Njie of one Salvatore wrist watch, one silver necklace with diamond locket and other assorted items with a physical cash of One Thousand United States Dollars all to the total value of Two Hundred and Eighteen Thousand Leones (218,000) and at the time of or immediately before or immediately after such robbery did use personal violence to the said Ndye Njie on count three the 4th accused person on the same date at King Jimmy, Wallace Johnson Street Freetown did received one Salvatore wrist watch and other items all to the total value of One Hundred and Ninety-Five Leones (195,000) property of the said complainant.

On CS1623/2023 on count two the 1st,  2nd and 3rd accused persons on the 19 May 2023 at Kabba Drive, Masimbo, Regent in the Western Area in Freetown being armed with a shot gun and machetes robbed Hon Justice Alfred Tommy Ganda of one black Del laptop computer, one black Toshiba Laptop computer, two HP laptop computer and other items with a physical cash of Fourteen Thousand Nine Hundred Leones (NLe14,000) all to the total value of Seventy-Four Thousand Seven Hundred Leones (NLe74700) and at the time of or immediately before or immediately after such robbery, did use personal violence to the said Hon Justice Alfred Tommy Ganda on count three the 4th accused on 4 May 2023 at King Jimmy, Wallace Johnson Street Freetown did receive one black Del laptop computer and other items all to the total value of Fifty-Six Thousand Eight Hundred New Leones (NLe56,800) properties of the said complainant

When the charges were read and explained to the accused persons no plea taken

The prosecutor Police Inspector Kadie M. Taylor called for a short adjournment date because her witnesses were absent in court.

Counsel representing the accused persons J. Mans was about to made application on behalf of his client, but he was interrupted by the magistrate because of the seriousness of the alleged offences.

Magistrate Ngegba denied them bail and sent all accused persons to the Male Correctional Center in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to the 10 July 2023 for further hearing.
