APC’s A UNITED FORCE

APC’s A UNITED FORCE

News that certain senior All People’s Congress (APC) enthusiasts are of the view that their party is divided, ungovernable and has destructive elements within is untrue. It is unfortunate in so many ways for a political institution working diligently to democratically form the next government to be defamed out of mere malice is sad. Sentiments of such nature emerging from none less a person but very senior APC member, aimed at tearing the APC apart is uncalled for and MUST be discouraged going forward. For it is not good for the progress and development of the APC not to talk of the country.

As a party working hard to regain political power, the APC has a national leadership structure of Hon Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray as the National Chairman, fully supported by ward, constituency, district and zonal chairmen who regularly help them in handling and addressing the affairs of the party, can also not be tagged at destructive, ungovernable, divisive. And for the fact that the APC National Executive keeps addressing party matters right from No. 11A Old Railway Line National Secretariat in Freetown to the least political constituency in the country, and by extension to all diaspora chapters across the globe, implies very good and strong political governance in the APC.

So there is nothing like disunity and divisiveness in the APC. Hence the notion that the APC is a divided party does not hold at all and it is unworthy to go by. How dear such an ill-fated detractor and failed old guard partisan who lied to one of the local newspapers that the APC is divided. The APC is not divided at all. Remarks and comments like that are deem as complete incitement of party supporters and followers to rise against their leaders. That MUST be brought to a permanent halt at once if APC members were to work with synergy geared towards repositioning their party to democratically form the next governance structure of the state, rather than wasting energies on pulling down syndromes.

One can say what he/she may but the APC is the only political party in Sierra Leone that has saved the country from dashing into political and socioeconomic mess. In fact, the records are there that the last APC administration delivered very well in their last ten years. The APC met the expectations of the nation, compared to the six years of the incumbent, which is why Sierra Leoneans and friends of the country are now basking in total regrets of missing the APC governance style.

Barely six years on the governing Sierra Leone People’s Party SLPP’s weaknesses, bad leadership, backed by incompetent and poor governance management have shown clearly with vast differences in diverse areas compared to their predecessors – the APC. Areas of national unity, political good governance, democratic consolidation, economic and fiscal management, peace, security and stability gains among others have been drastically reversed in the last six years under the watch of their leader; the Chief Executive Officer of the state.

As at now the expectations of the people are at rooftop looking forward to the APC that the party of the common man will one day soon take up governance through a democratic means and transform the Sierra Leone again for the betterments of all and sundry like they did under the leadership of former President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma and Alhaji Dr Ahmed Tejan Kabbah of blessed memories. The more reasons the APC is working as a united and formidable force with the Tripartite Committee of Electoral Reforms to get to the bottom of irregularities discovered in the June 24 2023 elections by domestic and foreign observers. That is also indicative of unity in the APC party. So, ill-fated APC old guard(s) should stop tagging a serious political entity that is focused on investigating electoral deliberate ‘fraud’ as a divided party.

Prospects for the better are being sensed everywhere among APC partisans, especially those who actually experienced what was rolled out and offered Sierra Leoneans by the APC during their last ten years of constructive and transformative state governance.

It is therefore worthy to note that the APC is a united force despite several attempts that have been made by dangerous political opponents to extinguish the party of the ordinary people but they have all failed woefully. Yet the APC remains stronger than ever before. Henceforth opinions being held by senior partisans that the APC is divided to a point of incapacitating themselves to democratically take over governance is unfair and disingenuous to the largest political parties if not in Sierra Leone but in the sub-region as a whole and its followers. That MUST stop now moving forward before we start to name and shame such a misguided senior APC member in our next edition of TALKING POINT. The arguments that there was a mad rush for APC presidential candidacy race in 2017-18 and one among them emerged as the front runner does not mean that APC politicians are still at war with your comrades.

Democracy ignites constructive competition wherein battles of ideas come into play to win the hearts and minds of voters. And that they competed then does not warrant what is perceived by old guard in question as they are being divisive, the party is ungovernable and destructive. That is not the situation at hands now but as a party to look into electoral irregularities that were raised therein by the APC, domestic and foreign observers in the June 24 2023 elections. So Mr old guard join up and support the junior and younger comrades representing the APC at the elections investigations committee to unearth the truth about June 2023 polls.
