BCC Embarks on Cleaning Exercise

In a bid to maintain the cleanliness of the Bo Municipality, the Bo City Council (BCC) has on Thursday 24 August 2023, engaged stakeholders in a meetings to discuss the importance of the monthly general cleaning.

It could be recalled that the BCC had issued out a public notice on the 21 August 2023, informing the people of Bo and its environs about the monthly cleaning exercise that will start on Saturday 26 August 2023, and as a result the council authorities have met with stakeholders to discuss on the said issue and other developmental things in the Municipality.

The meeting was well attended by several city stakeholders, and it was held at the council’s chamber in Bo.

According to the Mayor of Bo, His Worship Kobba Musa, election activities are over and it is now time to work for the development of Bo. Mayor Musa said that the monthly cleaning exercise will help the city to be if not the cleanest city, but one of the cleanest cities in the country.

The Deputy Chief Administrator, BCC, Henry Powell observed that development is participatory and BCC cannot develop the city without the collective efforts of the Bo people.

He therefore encouraged stakeholders to work with BCC to enable the council achieve the monthly cleaning exercise in Bo.

Speaking to FORUM NEWS SL, the Information Education and Communications Officer, BCC, Ivan Vandy said that the meeting was geared towards informing stakeholders and the entire municipality about the general cleaning initiative. Vandy informed that that the cleaning forms part of Mayor Musa’s manifesto commitment made during his campaign to run a clean Bo city. He continued that the council is ready to maintain the monthly cleaning exercise to see that Bo is the cleanest city in the country.

He furthered that BCC councilors are in full readiness to accomplish the mission to its logical sustenance. Vandy said during the cleaning exercise, no motor bikes or vehicles will be allowed to ply the streets of the city from 6a.m to 12p.m, adding that only essential workers like health workers and others will be allowed within the time slated for the cleaning exercise.
