The Mayor-Elect of Freetown, Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr has taken to her social media handles and reaffirmed their actions for not participating in any governance issues as they are in strong solidarity with the main opposition All People’s Congress – APC party.

According to Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, they didn’t attend the swearing-in ceremony for mayor, deputy mayor and councillors of the Freetown City Council that last Thursday 17 August 2023 took place at the council’s Auditorium.

She noted that the APC party’s non-participating in governance is as a result of the announcement of June 24 presidential result, which is a clear manifestation that the results didn’t reflect the actual votes of the people.

It is clear that the FCC is not the only council that rejects and boycott from governance activities and stand in solidarity with the APC party.

Among councils across the country that are in solidarity with the APC party’s position are, Makeni and Port Loko City Councils, the Western Rural, Bombali, Koinadugu, Kambia and Tonkolili District Councils.

According to the APC National Secretary General, Lansana Dumbuya ESQ said the councillors, mayors and their deputies are not the only people that stand in solidarity with the party, but also the newly elected parliamentarians.

Lawyer Dumbuya noted that they will not partake in any governance activities unless the ECSL pull the actual result for the just concluded presidential election for the general public to see.
