The Inspector General of the Sierra Leone Police, William Fayia Sellu, has described media reports alleging a delay in the supply of rice to the Sierra Leone Police Force as not only baseless and unfounded but also a deliberate ploy by desperate and mischievous individuals to create a false narrative.

In an interview with this medium, the IGP maintained that under his watch, the issue of backlog in the supply of rice to the force was now becoming a thing of the past.

This, he said, was made possible by the rice supplier, VIP Trading Company headed by a dynamic young man, Ahmed Hashim.

The IGP did not mince words in showering praises on VIP Trading Company for what he described as excellent execution of contract.

‘Before I took over as IGP, the issue of backlog in the supply of rice to the force was always rife. It sometimes runs into several months due to negligence on the part of the SLP leadership.

With me at the helm of affairs and with the dedication and commitment of the contractor, the issue of backlog supply is now a thing of the past’, the IGP maintained and added that they have been able to offset over ninety percent of backlogs accrued over the years.

He further disclosed that, supply for February month was already underway noting that the contractor was always on top of situation in making sure that he delivers not only on time but also quality rice supply that continues to boost the morale of the Sierra Leone Police Force.
