Leader of the Opposition in the Sierra Leone House of Parliament and of the All People’s Congress (APC), Hon. Chernor Ramadan Maju Bah, has recently called on eligible Sierra Leonean voters of eighteen years and above to prepare themselves for 24 June 2023.“Let us make the sacrifice to go and register and get ourselves well prepared for June 24, 2023,” he implored all and sundry, adding: “Voting is the fundamental right of every citizen and to be exercised whenever there is an election in the country.”

The APC Leader informed that the right to vote is one of the basic and fundamental rights in a democracy, hence encouraged all to endeavour to register from 3 September to 4 October 2022 to enable them vote in the elections of June 24, 2023.

The opposition and majority Leader in the House of Parliament made the appeal whilst addressing a meeting of party members, supporters, followers and the general citizens of the country at the APC National Secretariat, on 11A Railway Line, Brookfields in Freetown, ahead of the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone’s voter registration, scheduled for the aforementioned duration.

“We have been complaining of bad governance for the last four years, so this is the time for us to register en masse so that we will be able to vote on June 24, 2023, because that is your right, and nobody will take it from you,” he said.

Hon. Bah reflected on the socioeconomic and undemocratic misrule Sierra Leoneans continue to encounter under the incumbent government in the last four years. This, he observed, is not easy for the APC party and people of Sierra Leone, reiterating that the voter registration is the only opportunity the people had been waiting for.

He described the APC as a democratic and law-abiding party, and vowed that they would use the ballot box to change the government and restore the sanity and stability that was prevalent in Sierra Leone during the ten (10) years of former President Ernest Bai Koroma.

He encouraged Sierra Leoneans to exercise patience, forget about the negative things that had happened over the past four years and use the registration as the best way to show their anger and frustration about the misrule of the President Bio-led SLPP regime by registering in their thousands and get ready to vote again in their millions.

“Let us show the world that the Mid-Term Census result that came out this year is fake, by making sure that we show them that Western Area is the most populated region in the country,” he entreated their members, saying: “I am hoping to see over a million people register in the Western Urban and close to that number in the Western Rural. We have the population and we must show the world by making sure that nobody threatens us or tries to stifle us from going out and register. This is our chance to show this government that they are no more welcome in Sierra Leone as they have done unimaginable things to our people in the North-West,” he entreated all.
