Freetown, September 17, 2026 (SLENA)-Two hundred fifty young Sierra Leoneans were challenged to embrace purposeful leadership, effective communication, and courageous service during the 2026 Leadership Public Speaking Masterclass on Thursday, September 17.
Basic Senior Secondary Education Minister Hon. Conrad O. Sackey encouraged participants to understand that leadership is not about speaking loudest but speaking with purpose, listening with humility, and acting with courage.
Minister emphasised giving young people confidence and skills, and becoming responsible leaders contributing to Sierra Leone’s development. He noted the Ministry’s principle of radical inclusion, ensuring every pupil has the opportunity to be heard, with voices valued.
“Who will speak for those whose voices are not yet heard? You will,” the Minister told participants.
2026 Leadership Public Speaking Masterclass organised equipping young Sierra Leoneans with leadership, communication, and public-speaking skills. Over three cohorts, Patriotic Advocacy Network equipped 750 young leaders, providing tools and knowledge for leading, communicating effectively, and serving communities.
Minister further encouraged participants recognising potential, take responsibility shaping country’s future. He reminded journey still ahead, opportunity leaving positive impact through actions, leadership, and service.
“Your footprints have not yet been made. The ground ahead is yours to shape,” he told participants.
