Abuja – 5 December, 2022
The former President Koroma – led West African Elders Forum (WAEF) Pre-election Assessment Mission to Nigeria has held fruitful discussions with representatives of Western diplomats in Nigeria. The WAEF delegation included the former Vice President of the Gambia, Fatoumata Tamba-Jallow, and the former head of the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), Dr Mohamed Ibn Chambas.

Presenting the overview of the Mission, former President Koroma informed that WAEF have taken this challenge as elders to work with governments, political parties, development partners, civil society organizations and election management bodies, to identify challenges earlier enough and work towards addressing them.
Alexandre Borges of the European Union Delegation to Nigeria & ECOWAS and Elizabeth Drew of the British High Commission to Nigeria, who represented the Western Diplomats, commended WAEF for their insight and timely engagement on the Nigerian election.
The WAEF delegation will continue its interaction this afternoon with Nigeria’s Independent Electoral Commission (INEC)
