The Sierra Leone Police has last Saturday 29 May 2023 called on all to remain peaceful, calm and go about their normal business.Police cautionary call on the public emerged following the release of social media audio allegedly attributed to the National Secretary General of the opposition All People’s Congress and the former Chairman of the Western Area Rural District Council, Kasho Joseph Holland Cole, which contains threats to embark a nationwide demonstration if their concerns are not addressed by the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone.

In a press release issued on the forementioned date, by the Media and Public Relations Department of the Sierra Leone Police, described such threats as “inappropriate ” and counterproductive during the electioneering period.

The release further reminds all including the APC National Secretary General, Lansana Dumbuya Esq and all political parties of the provisions of Part III of the Public Order Act No. 46 of 1965 relating to procession in Sierra Leone.

Police therefore encouraged all citizens and political parties to address their concerns through engagement and judicial procedures and not violent threats which has the potential to undermine the security of the state.
