UBA Foundation in collaboration with Auradicals Foundation commissioned the tree planting campaign in Malempeh, Tonkolili District.
The event which took place on Friday, 22nd December 2023 was graced by Executive Management Committee members and other staff of UBA Sierra Leone, Auradicals Foundation members, Community heads and other stakeholders of Malempeh community.
The commissioning of this project marked the start of the tree planting exercise, with the collective goal of planting a total of five thousand (5,000) trees in selected locations which will not only contribute to environmental sustainability but also investing in the health and well-being of the community and the planet.
The occasion was crowned with the signing of MOUs by UBA Foundation, Auradicals and the community heads in order to solidify the partnership, ensuring a mutual understanding of each party’s role in the tree planting project, and setting the stage for a successful and collaborative efforts.Tony Elumelu, the Group Chairman of UBA Plc, who has been in the forefront of sustainability efforts in Africa, and also one of Africa’s most prominent advocates for equitable climate finance, has been working with top world leaders towards creating sustainable climate solutions. According to Mr. Elumelu, the world needs bold actions and innovative new partnerships between public, private, and philanthropic actors.
The symbolic planting of the cash crops was done by Ngene Chiedu, Chief Operating Officer on behalf of UBA Sierra Leone and Ibrahim Sorie Kamara, Global Moderator Auradicals Foundation.
