UBA SL Wins 2022 ‘The Banker’s Bank of the Year Awards’ as the Best Bank in Sierra Leone

UBA Sierra Leone has once again been awarded The Banker’s “Bank of the Year” award for 2022 as the Best Bank in Sierra Leone. This award has further demonstrated our strong presence in the financial services space in the country and this is the fourth time in the last four years that UBA SL have won this prestigious award; 2019, 2020,2021 and 2022 consecutively.
We have been able to achieve this significant milestone with the continued patronage, loyalty and unwavering support of our esteemed customers. We also owe this to the hard work, commitment and dedication of the Board, Management and Staff of UBA Sierra Leone.

The Banker’s Bank of the Year Awards have been running since 2000 and it is the most prestigious in global banking award. The scope of the awards cover more than 120 countries globally.

The recipients for the Banker’s Awards are determined by a panel of editors including regional and sector specialists. The decisions are made according to a key criteria of improvements made over the past 12 months and both small and large banks compete on a level playing field.
According to a briefing from The Banker “The winners were announced on the night of 1 December at the InterContinental London Park Lane Hotel.

UBA’s solid financial performance, its excellent service delivery to customers and its continuous role of facilitating rapid economic growth across the African continent were some of the reasons that led to the bank being named best bank in 6 of its African subsidiaries in 2022. UBA Burkina Faso, Chad, Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Zambia all came out top as the best banks in their respective countries.

UBA Sierra Leone Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Usman Isiaka expressed delight over the recognition from The Banker noting that “ UBA Sierra Leone has won the Banker’s Award back-back in Sierra Leone among the 14 commercial banks, this is a remarkable achievement.”

Since 1926, the Bank of the Year awards has been celebrating the best of global banking and is regarded as the industry standard for banking excellence.
The Banker Magazine is a publication of the Financial Times – a leading global finance news publication which has been in existence since 1888. The Banker magazine is the definitive reference in international banking for high level decision makers.
